Bellingham's Dream Science Circus new shoe Dec 1 & 2

Bellingham's eclectic Dream Science Circuswill be preforming a new show this weekend December 1st at 7:00pm & 2nd at 2:00 and 7:00pm at the Syre Student Center Main Theatre at Whatcom Community College called Sleeping on the Ceiling.

A Quote from their website about the show says "Sleeping on the Ceiling uses circus arts and physical theatre to tell the story of one man's discovery that joy in his life starts when he stops fighting his monsters and starts to play with them. The cast of professional circus performers takes the audience on a journey that recaptures that lingering feeling of magic that you get when you wake up from a dream, that magical sense of possibility and play. "

The Dream Science Circus is an unusual group of entertainers, think  Cirque de Soliel, not Barnum and Bailey.

Bellingham's Sanitary Service Expands Recycling Program

Today is America Recycles Day so I thought I would tell you about a new recycling service in town.

Bellingham's Sanitary Service has just added plastic tubs and containers to its recycling program. I am so glad to hear this good news. It is always been very frustrating having these containers lying around saying they are recyclable and having no place to recycle them.

That's all changed now. Bellingham's 2006 recycler of the year Sanitary Service Corporationhas finally taken another step in the right direction in cleaning up the environment. All the plastic that is collected in the curbside recycling program is delivered to Northwest Recycling in Bellingham where it is  sorted, baled, and shipped out for processing.

Recycled plastic is used to make a variety of products from composite lumber used a lot in taking to fleece clothing.

This is great news for the environment.

Bellingham Real Estate Condo Market Report Graph - October 2007

The Bellingham condo market is starting to increase. The average is oup 11% over last year, but down less than 1% compared to last month. while the median price is up 11.8% over last year and down 1.3% over last month.

Once again I will say that I think these statistics will change pretty drastically in the coming months to increases for condo sales prices as some of the upscale condos like the Waldron & Young, and the Drake buildings are finished and the reserved units there start closing. We may be seeing some of this already.

The average price fell 12.9% compared to last year while the median price fell 10% compared to last year.

The number of sales is down compared to last month, and days on market is also up a bit, so we have a slower market time looks like we lost the gains feom last month.

Buyers: now is a good time to get in the market, there are plenty of homes to choose from and lots have been on the market a long time so there are some motivated sellers out there who need to sell their homes.

Sellers: There is still a lot of competition right now and if you don't want your home to sit on the market without an offer here are a few bits of advise:

  • The most important thing you can do is price your home right, have your real estate agent do a CMA and price your home aggressively, that is in the lower range of similar homes if you want a quick sale
  • Have a pre-inspection done to your home and fix any problems
  • Give your home curb appeal
  • Offer a Home Warranty if it is an older home
  • Get rid of clutter, start clearing out your things, even if you have to put them in storage.
  • Think about staging your home, get advise from a staging professional or at least your agent.
